Privacy Policy
We collect family stories. We treat them with the same care your family would.
Who we are
Mannam Me is operated by Stephen Lee, operating Mannam Me as a sole proprietorship in California, USA(“we,” “us,” or “Mannam Me”), a California-based service that conducts AI-assisted oral history sessions with your parent and turns them into a bilingual Korean–English memoir.
If you have any questions about this policy, email privacy@mannam.me.
What we collect
In the past 12 months, we collect or may collect:
| Identifiers | Your name, email, phone, IP address; your parent's name, age, phone, time zone, preferred language. |
|---|---|
| Sensitive personal information | Voice recordings of your parent's interview sessions and the transcripts and drafts derived from them. These may discuss health, religion, family origin, or other sensitive topics. |
| Commercial information | Records of the memoir service you purchased, refund history (if any), and any communications you've had with us. |
| Internet or network activity | How you arrived at our site (referrer), your browser type, and basic interaction data needed to keep the site working. |
| Inferences | Buyer-trigger and goal information you provide on the intake form. We use this to improve the service and tailor outreach. We do not build psychographic profiles. |
Where we get it
Two sources only:
- From you directly (intake form, emails, support conversations)
- From your parent during their interview sessions (voice recordings and the transcripts derived from them)
We do not buy data from third parties or scrape it from the public web.
What we do with it
- Conduct the interview sessions and write the memoir
- Send you confirmations, scheduling messages, and the memoir itself
- Process refunds when requested
- Improve the service — for example, learning which questions elicit the best stories. Improvements use de-identified or aggregated data when possible.
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
- Comply with applicable law
We do not use voice recordings or memoir content to train third-party AI models. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Who we share it with
We share strictly with vendors who help us run the service, under written contracts that bind them to the same privacy obligations:
| Vercel | Website hosting and infrastructure |
|---|---|
| Neon | Database hosting (intake, sessions, memoir drafts) |
| Resend | Transactional email delivery |
| Vapi or equivalent voice agent provider | Conducting the interview sessions |
| Vercel AI Gateway / Anthropic / OpenAI | Generating memoir drafts from transcripts |
| Cloudflare | Bot protection on our forms |
We share with law enforcement only when legally required and we tell you unless legally prohibited from doing so.
How long we keep it
- Voice recordings & transcripts: kept for the duration of your engagement plus 90 days, unless you request earlier deletion (we delete within 7 days of any request).
- Memoir drafts and final memoir: kept indefinitely in your private account so you can re-download. Deleted on request.
- Account and contact information:kept until you ask us to delete it, except where we're required to retain records for tax or legal reasons.
Your California privacy rights
If you live in California, the CCPA and CPRA give you these rights, free of charge:
- Right to know.Ask what personal information we have collected about you and your parent, and how we've used it.
- Right to delete. Ask us to delete personal information.
- Right to correct. Ask us to fix inaccurate information.
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information. Ask us to use sensitive information only for the purpose of providing the memoir service. We already do this by default — we do not use it for marketing or profiling.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. There is nothing to opt out of, but you have the right.
- Right to non-discrimination. Exercising any of these rights does not affect the price you pay or the service you receive.
- Right to use an authorized agent. You may designate someone to make requests on your behalf.
How to exercise your rights
Two methods, both online:
- Email privacy@mannam.me
- Use our online request form at mannam.me/privacy-request
We'll respond within 45 days (with one possible 45-day extension if more time is genuinely needed and we tell you why). To verify your identity, we'll usually ask you to confirm details associated with your account (email used at intake, parent's name, etc.). We will not ask for government ID unless we have a strong fraud concern.
Children
Mannam Me is for adults gifting a memoir service to their parents. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child's information is in our system, email us and we'll delete it.
Security
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256). Database credentials live only on the server, never in code or configuration files committed to git. Access to the production database is limited to the founder.
Changes to this policy
If we make a meaningful change, we update the “last updated” date below and email anyone who has previously submitted an intake form. We review this policy at least every 12 months as required by California law.
